What I learned while walking to the grocery store.

We all know the high price of gas. And we all know that I DO NOT get enough exercise. So I went and bought a granny cart. You know what I am talking about, those wire folding baskets w/two wheels and a handle that little old ladies back in the day used to use to go to the corner market.

Yea, that.  So I buy this thing, not bothering to do the calculation that I would have to make like 10 trips to the grocery store before the gas savings would kick in. But hey, I bring my own cloth bags to the store so I m totally about reducing my carbon footprint and being environmentally aware. But that is for a different blog.

So, back to today. I wake up and I think, I am going to use my granny cart and walk to the store. Fine. My 4 year old DD says, Mommy, can I go in my stroller. Sure honey, with all the stuff I have been through the last month, I am all about a little one on one with her.

So, I dilly dally around the house, drink coffee, yada yada, and I am ready to go at about 1130am.  I even put sun tan lotion on my new tattoo (another blog too) and off we go. Well, hello , this is South Florida. By the time I get half a block away, the store is about 1 mile away, I am sweating.  Pushing my 40 lb DD in a stroller and dragging the granny cart, which is empty. Oh my, what's it going to be like on the way back.

First off, I imagine it is strange to see a women pushing a stroller and dragging a wire basket cart. And the grocery clerk  was a little pissy with me. That is why I told you to put the cold stuff away, I have a cooler for it to go in. Oh, yea, a Dale Jr NASCAR cooler. Strolling along the hoity toity neighborhood that I live in. Trust me, I live in the "ghetto" of the best neighborhood.  But still....

The way there was ok, the way back brutal.  It is mid-day, oh about 93 degrees, sun bearing down and those typical South Florida thunderstorms were looming. No, I got home before they hit. Thankfully.

So,  you wonder, I have read all this and I still don't know what you learned:

1) Leave the house at 7am or at 7pm. Any other time will be waaaaay to hot, at least until oh, probably November.
2) It is harder to walk when pushing 50lbs of stuff and pulling about 40 lbs of stuff. Just sayin'
3) there is no way in hell I am going to any Disney or Universal or any other kind of theme park until oh, probably November, unless its a water park
4) I still get massive headaches when I overexert myself
5) I really do hate exercise
6) handles give your hands calluses , next time where your work out gloves
7) The 4 year old stays home w/her older brother, no ifs ands or buts about it.
8)I am more of a bitch when I am hot and sweaty. Especially when I am pushing a stroller and pulling a granny cart
9) Think through the Whole trip, and don't buy heavy items
10) There is no sidewalk on the north side of Bonaventure Blvd. Bastards.

Yes, I will walk again. But I definitely learned some things.

Off to put away the groceries.

OMG! Love it! Glad you learned something. Girl you never fail to make me laugh! Read your comment on my blog - I think it is worth considering. May make things easier all the way around.

Have a good one!
